Hell's Bridge, Algoma Township, Michigan
In the mid 1800's, when towns began to emerge in this wooded area of Michigan, children went missing. It left the improvised towns in shambles, all work and expansion stopped. The townsfolk turned to their church to find comfort and answers. In attendance was the enigmatic Elias Friske. He seemed to be a kind older man with a fondness for children. He asked to preach that day.
Elias' preached of hellfire and brimstone, and of demons that surrounded the town. He demanded the congregation's prayers or the demons would return and take more children into the dark abyss. With renewed purpose after hearing Elias preach; the town organized a search party to find the children, and to hunt the dark souls that took them. The townsfolk believed that Elias was too old and frail to join the search. They asked him to watch the town's remaining children. Elias agreed and told the search party he would take the children on a picnic, near the Rogue River. Elias explained that if the search party came back with bodies in tow, the children would be away and spared the horror.
Elias tied rope around each child's waist, creating a human chain that Elias led. 'We don't want to loose anymore,' Elias jokingly said. The children waved their tiny hands as they watched their parents head off in the opposite direction. Elias began their march into the woods.
The walk to the river was long, and the children soon tired. They asked Elias to take a break, but Elias harshly tugged on the rope leading them further into the woods. The children became frightened and begged Elias to stop, but he continued to drag them along. Soon, the children noticed a strange and horrible odor. Elias deeply inhaled the stench.
Elias pushed the children up against a tree and tethered them to it with the rope he led them with. He shambled over to a pile of leaves and uncovered the source of the smell. It was the missing children, skinned and beginning to rot. The children began to scream and cry, but the search party was miles away, far out of hearing distance.
One by one Elias destroyed their young lives, forcing the living to watch each cut, to hear each bone break. After Elias finished his murdering rampage, he awoke from his bloodlust and realized the impact of what he had done. He could not return to town. He had to escape.
Elias threw the bodies of the children into the Rogue River and he fled further into the woods.
It was dark when the townspeople returned to town. Elias and the children had not returned. It took only moments for the townspeople to realize the ruse devised by Elias Friske. Fearing what darkness may be unleashed onto the children the search party rushed into the woods that Elias had marched into.
They arrived at the bridge that had recently been built in order to cross the unpredictable Rogue River. There, gathered underneath the bridge in the icy waters, were the mutilated bodies of their children. Among the screams and wails, one young man noticed a pair of muddy footprints leading further into the woods. He sprinted in their direction and he eventually found Elias Friske, stained with blood.
The young man drug Elias back to the bridge. Elias screamed about how demons had taken control of him and that he deserved pity. The magistrate simply responded, "Hang that son of a bitch."
The rope that Elias had bound the children with was recovered and tied around his neck. The townspeople, without ceremony, hung him off of the bridge. After Elias' body stopped twitching it's said that the waters underneath him swelled, and snapped the rope that Elias hung from. His body was swept away down river never to be recovered.
Today, the Rogue River is a popular place for young people to spend a leisurely afternoon riding an innertube down it's waters. Often, they are frightened out of the water by what the have described as hands grabbing their feet from underneath the water. The hands seem to tug, attempting to pull the victim into the water. Expecting to see a pranking friend emerge from the waters, they soon realize that they are alone. Many have made their way back to the mouth of the river in tears after experiencing this frightening event.
The bridge that Elias hung from is now known as 'Hell's Bridge'. People have reported that they have heard the sound of children, at times laughing, at other times screaming. Disembodied footsteps are often heard in the area of the bridge. Many people have said that they have felt like they were followed through the woods.
Most activity seems to happen around midnight, around the time that Elias would have been hung. Hell's Bridge has acquired its name because many people have reported the sounds of demonic laughter erupting from all directions around this hour. The laughing is often accompanied by the sight of glowing eyes moving through the woods.
Others have described a dark apparition standing on the bridge, at times with glowing red eyes.

I would like to venture out to Hell's bridge at night, perhaps on halloween, and use an Ouija board while sitting on the bridge to attempt to contact the spirit of Elias Friske.
Also, how could Friske could have possibly been hung from that bridge? It looks like there is maybe 1-2 feet of space between the bottom of that bridge and the water. 0_0
Hi matt, If you do venture out on Halloween to Hell's Bridge, I'd love for you to post your findings! Although, be careful with the Ouija board, if not used properly Elias could be following you home.
About the bridge, yeah, I wrote this article with Elias being hung off the bridge, but I agree...from the photos it would look like no one could hang from that. Actually, the bridge looks a bit too modern also. However, there are two theories that help explain that, the most popular is that Elias was hung from a tree in the vicinity of the bridge pictured. Another states that the bridge pictured is not the actual 'Hell's Bridge', there's supposedly a stone bridge a couple miles down that's the actual Hell's Bridge, but I've heard people have tried to find it and have been unsuccessful.
The bridge does look modern, but it still could have been built in the mid 19th century. We did have the capability of building iron bridges back then. For example, the Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1883, and the first iron ore dock was constructed at marquette in 1859. Hell's bridge appears to be a simple variant on a metal beam bridge. It looks like it's made from iron. I am interested to see if there is indeed another bridge in the area. Wouldn't it be easy to just canoe or tube down the whole rockford stretch of the river to see if there was another stone bridge?
It seems that the Friske killings would have happened in between the time that The first sawmill was built in Laphamville and when the name of the town was changed to Rockford (1842-1865).
I am very interested in looking into this more. Are there any online groups or sites dedicated to Hell's Bridge/Elias Friske?
I've been to there. There is no possible way he was hung off of there, the bridge is about a foot off of the water. Also, the bridge was put in in the 1950's. This 'event' was way back in the 1900's.
And Matt, the bridge is like a foot across, so it might be hard to use a Ouiji board.
But I went out there at like 3 in the afternoon, and it was eerie. It felt like I had a dream once where i saw all the surroundings by it. Odd.
Also, I've never heard of people tubing down by there and having being grabbed at....
My bad, I ment the 1800's when this happened.
I'm very intersted in this story, I do in fact believe in paranormal activity and i want to know where the bridge is
well if you dont mind telling me where it is
me and some friends recently went to hells bridge and picked up an "evp" of some back ground noise that you can make out as someone saying in a deep voice "Ice cold" this is some freaky stuff i recommend going there and doing some investigations.
Me and my freinds went on a rafting trip down the rouge tiver. a few hours into the trip i look over and see this odd bridge. i thought to myself and then said aloud "Tim,Daniel! Thats hells bridge," i remeberd it from an aritcle in the paper a few years back. the scary part was as soon as i yelled its hells bridge, the cd player skipped like crazy. and the cd in there was practicaly new
I've been obsessed with going to this bridge for almost two years now. The first time I read about it, I felt this very strong need to go there. I was wondering, though, where you got the information for this article. I would like to know as much as possible about what happened, and when it happened. Any information on where you acquired this information would be awesome.
same here i whant to go there rily bad but im 14 and live in west michigan. thats grand haven is were i live is it driveing distance from were i live?
My friends and I WILL be doing an investigation of Hell's Bridge on Halloween, Friday, October 31, 2008. We will be taking digital cameras and a camcorder to log any paranormal activity we encounter. We have already done this twice already at the haunted cemetery in Pere Cheney in which our digital cameras picked up some "interesting" photographs of what appears to be a face in the mist moving towards us (it got close over 3 pictures). I am really excited to see what Hell's Bridge has to offer!
The bridge is over a creek that flows into the Rogue River. Its not over the Rogue itself.
First off when we went to Hell's Bridge we walked the trail that was approximately 200 feet until we came to the bridge. We were expecting a longer hike from what some of you had said but it was a real shock when we got to it after about 200 feet. When first arrived to the bridge I heard some noises that sounded like someone gasping for breath. I seen a white shadow so we walked across the bridge to the other side to investigate. So we walked south on the other side of the bridge and felt heaviness and goosebumps. This occurred by two trees that were smaller/medium compared to the tree that you first see when you approach the bridge. So we then took pictures and there were mist in the pictures. There was no orbis. You could feel the energies in your body. We decided to go back across the bridge to the right where there is a bank. There was foam and broken trees. Nothing in this spot. We went back toward the bridge and crossed it. When we got across it this time to the right of us was a strong presence. So we stood and asked for permission and waited. Shannon peed and got scared so she told me to wonder and see if I felt anything. So I wondered and felt something in the same spot she did. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. We decided to relax our nerves and smoke a cigarettes. I squatted down and I felt the pressure of someone leaning on my back. The three went and sat on the bridge. We decided to channel positive energy of the lost souls. So we asked them to acknowledge that we were there and let them know we were there for only respectful purposes and to signal us in a visual or audible way. We sat for about a minute and a half after that. As we were waiting for the respond the ripples that were going down stream came upstream. So we asked again and about 30 seconds later and the ripples came upstream again. Then we just sat there in peace. Then while sitting there I noticed an image of a man about 150 feet down from the bridge and as we waited we could hear footsteps the sounded like he was walking through the water. Something told me it was time to get off the bridge. So the three of us got off the bridge and continued to walk toward the car. Shannon heard noise to the right so she ran over there. Nothing. So we continued to walk more and went to another bank on the left side. We stood there for about 5 minutes and then we heard footsteps of a small child. We both got the feeling that it was time to leave. As we were on the trail walking back toward the car we both got a scary feeling for about 20 seconds and then it was gone. About 20 feet later we felt it again. So we got in the car and left.
The Hell's Bridge is a very peaceful place. There defienetly is spirits and activity going on. They are not going to hurt anyone. These children are probably just finding peace.
hey... umm i kinda wanna make a trip out to the bridge but i kinda need directions... can anyone help me...
thanks..
Yo people, I have a Girlfriend in michigan and I have been out there befor but this looks totally like a place to check out for me. I, funny enough have predicted MANY things to happen all can be backed by my friends and I have seen spirts in whole and partial form, if theres is anything going on out there maybe I will take a trip and spend a few nights, maybe look into the past for once wrather then the present or future.
OMG babe (jehs) didn't see your comment XD LOVEZ you <3
friske dr ne rockford michigan, get to ten mile then turn right on the first street algoma, pass 11th mile then turn on 12th mile on your right.friske dr ne should be on ur left then go a short way down there then there is a gravel tur around on your right than your there. look it up on yellow pages map then birds eye it gets real close.
A friend and I went to Hell's Bridge today in the mid-afternoon. When we first got there, I started taking pictures with my digital camera. I didn't see any orbs, but while my friend was standing on the bridge, I saw what looks like a small person's reflection in the water next to my friend's reflection on the photo.
As we were leaving, we stopped to look at a huge tree that looked pretty cool. As we were taking pictures of it, we heard what sounded like heavy footsteps on the bridge.
Well...Last night me, my mother, and few other people went to Hell's Bridge and it wasnt all that scary. We went around 11:00 pm and stayed until 12:30 am. The only thing that we hear was bloops in the water. And what I mean is, it sounded like things were gettin thrown into the water. Then when we crossed the bridge, we were gonna take a right because there was another little trail. And we heard foot steps and we put our flash light around the area and nothing was there. But we didnt hear any laughing or crying. Then we saw like this Body bag thing. It was all white and we went to go look at it and we only got 10 ft close to it because there was this huge puddle thing and we couldnt get around it. Then when we were walking back to our car, we smelled something really bad and we didnt smell it when we went on the trail only when we came off of it. And we looked around and all we saw was this deer butt. And I know that it sounds funny but its true. And it stunk REALLY bad. It wasnt there when we first went in. And we might go again tonight around 11:30pm and Stay until 1:00 am.
I forgot to say, that when we went out there on Halloween nothing happened. But when we went out there a few weeks back my friend had a camera phone and we saw two red eyes and we took a snap of it. And then we saw the red eyes but it had like a million orbs by it. But there is also another haunted place in Algoma. Its called Trestle Park.
Hey Jodi, a group of us went to Hell's Bridge on the 14th the day before you went and there was a rotting deer near the start of the path, that could be what you smelled. We also saw the white bag and my friend and I were going to it but were unable to get to it also, lol. It was not spooky there at all. All we heard was flowing water, and we saw nothing. We took a lot of pictures and on a few of them there are white spots? I think we would have better luck of getting "scared" if we weren't all goofing around :).
We drive on Friske road all the time. I close my eyes every time we go over the river because it scares me! if you go and sit on the bridge over the river and shut your vehcile off and just listen you can hear kids, and it gets really foggy out just over the bridge, it is really scary! we decided we are going to go to where they were hung just to see and i am like really scared!
This sounds awesome! But, I can not find directions to the bridge!! Can someone help me??
I actually live about 3 miles away roughly. It almost seems as more of a hangout (I've been there a couple times), but in my opinion, the woods across the bridge are much more eerie than anything. There is hardly any sunlight in those woods and the ground is very dark (possibly all the mud).
However, I never heard the theory of a stone bridge. Seems like a challenge to find it, if it does exist.
was wondering if i could get a exact location of this bridge cant seem to find any thing except appro. 6 miles north of grand rapids pls email me any maps or info would be very much appreated thanks
Me and my buddy Mike McConnell got into the habit of trying to get scared on halloween a few years back and ventured out in search of the Ada Witch ooooooh what a waste of fuckin time and we had known to Hells Bridge even been there a couple times nothing out of the prdinary ever happend but Halloween 2005 holy shit man we went out there to poof on a doobie or 2 and walked across the bridge and just about as soon as we crossed it probably midnight or so we heard a splashing in the water which we passed off a salmon or trout running then an incredibly loud snarling and snorting noise (like the noise a buck makes when its mad, but louder) was moving through the woods east to west and probaby 20-30mph and the strangest thing was there were no foot steps to be heard and if you can take a step with out making a noise those woods are moderatly thick and the ground is covered with twigs leaves and sticks.
I'm looking to head out to Hell's Bridge with some friends within the next couple of weeks. I used to live in the area and have delighted in hearing about other people's experiences.
This has been amazingly helpful! My friends and I are planning an investigation soon. I'll let you all know what we find!
I would like to fine out how to get there . I love walking throw cemeterys already and think I would enjoy visting this place . Thank you For your time !
I went lastnight with my group. The entrance is creepy and forboading in itself. Walking down the path to get to the bridge was eerie, but I'm guessing that it was just our nerves. We didn't hear or see anything out of place, while we looked around. The bridge was scary, but only because it was so narrow and twisty at the end. We decided to break off into two groups down different paths, my group went to the left along the river. We found a huge tree that was creepy looking, maybe the tree that the children were tied up to? Could very well be, we weren't sure. I had my voice recorder going the entire investigation, and we heard something that sounded like "You hoooo" in a deeper sing-songy voice, when we reviewed it later. We don't have any explanation for it, but I'm not going to rule it paranormal, because that was the only thing we caught. On the way back to our cars, one of the girls said she could here something walking at the same pace as her, right next to her in the wooded part next to the path. She turned to say something to someone behind her, turned back around and thought she saw a black shadow walk from left to right across the path in front of her. She was the only one that saw anything like that. While we were standing by our cars, after the investigation, she felt as if someone was standing at the edge of the woods watching us. We left and when I turned onto 12 mile, a cop was coming down towards us, as he passed, he turned around and followed me all the way to 10 mile, until I turned to get on the highway. I think that scared me more then the bridge itself! I think he was just making sure we weren't out there drinking or anything. Upon reviewing the pictures we took, we found some orbs in a lot of the photos, but there were a lot of bugs out last night. A few looked much too bright to be bugs though. We're just getting into the ghost hunting thing, so I wish we had the experience to know what they were. In time I suppose.
i have been to that bridge multiple times. i go fishing and hunting around the bridge. the bridge is very modern and there is no way that some one could be hung there. i have been hereing these storys for along time. i do belive in ghost and demons but when i go there i just dont feel like there is anything there... it might be a diffrent bridge or this bridge was put inplace of the real HELLS BRIDGE. the water under the bridge is about 3 feet and the bridge is about a foot or two over the water. if any one lives around HELLS BRIDGE and you like to be scared make sure you check out THE ADA WITCH CEMETARY...now that is a haunted place.....just ring the bells, and find out.....................
Im a believer! I have really REAL PURE TRUE evidence* that this is true , im uploading it to youtube right now, but my friends and I. There were 14 of us. We headed out last night whitch was the 06-23-09 to the hells bridge at 11:00pm we stayed until 1:30- 2:00. Damaion had a high intesity voice recorder and i was speaking to the ghost spirits of the children and Friske that night asking a whole lot of questions i was fortuantely brave enough to stand on the other side of the bridge by myself and i expirenced at first hand the errieness , The paranormal activity was making my hairs stand on high end , I beleive the infestation tends to haunt you more when your alone rather in a big group. Ok now the big proof) we all went silent and i was in the middle of two groups on the bridge i tended to poke at friske and taunt him a lot saying crazy shit, then i asked if friske was here and then I talked shit about him and soon as I said " COME ON TUFF GUY make a noise in the woods""" then then he did. I took the recorder home to examine then in real life we all heard no response but when i got home there he was on the recorder around 12;00 pm it was fricking crazy im definately goign there again!
heres the proof guys and gals
oh dear god...im going to hells bridge sometime within the next hour. im so scared after reading this haha. its by my ex boyfriends house too
I was there two nights ago with some friends. We got there before dusk and hung out a while. Started sitting quietly on the bridge around dusk. Got some interesting looking orbs in pictures taken around then. We started getting weird feelings on the far side of the bridge after nightfall. Distinctive cold spot next the big tree on that side as well. One friend claimed to see a shadowy figure moving around on that side. Two more random visitors showed up around 10 PM. When we all went to leave shortly after that the visitors' car was totally covered in mud with no tire tracks or recent footprints near it.
I'm heading out there tomorrow with my fiance and one of our friends. Can't wait to see what happens.
Just got back from Hell's Bridge with my friend Megan tonight.
All was pretty quiet until nightfall. We decided that something on the side of the bridge opposite the big tree was starting to not feel quite right after the sun went down. That's where we'd been standing during sunset. We sat down by the big tree when it was dark and let one of our digital voice recorders roll. My friend took some digital photos while I filmed with one of my camcorders. We sat there and talked randomly, then I asked some questions. Megan got a cold sensation down her back (which was facing the tree; I sat facing her). I started to get cold chills. I also thought I heard people talking and walking down the path toward us. Thinking it was more curious investigators, I waited. No one came. Eventually, we started to feel so physically weird and like we were being watched that we grabbed our stuff and hauled butt up the trail. It was really muddy, but we were trying to move quickly just to get back to the car.
We got back to my house and played the recording she took on her recorder after dark, when we were experiencing things. We heard a ton of unexplainable noises including voices, a child crying, a girl singing, and really bizarre growls.
Also, I found bruises on my right arm that were not there earlier in the day. I do not recall any way in which I could've sustained these bruises. I have three on my upper arm spaced at the width of three spread human fingers, but they look like I was being grabbed by something from behind. At this angle, I couldn't have done them myself. I also have one in the middle of my lower arm. I did not see or feel any of these until I got home, took off my hoodie, and was washing my hands.
I should mention, now that I've looked over the photographs I took while there using my digital camera, some weird things came up, such as faces in the water, as well as what looks like a horse's head and the upper body of a woman in the woods on the far side of the bridge.
There is also one questionable light anomaly on some video I took after dark. You can see the fireflies and how their glows showed up on my camera, but there is one light that is bigger and longer-lasting that goes in a different flight pattern than the fireflies. I'm having trouble explaining it and don't know the origin of the source.
We're planning a return trip for August 4th if anyone is interested.
Went out to Hell's Bridge again last night with a group of friends. We stayed until around 11:30-ish. One of my friends was "shush"ed on the trail leading to the bridge. Another friend placed a Tootsie Roll on the tree, in a crevasse, as a trigger object. We came back to it a while later and found it was moved. On the digital voice recorder, my friend asks who moved the Tootsie Roll, then there is a little boy's voice that says "hurts." Not kidding. We collected over 20 EVPs on one digital recorder. Don't know how many my friend got on hers. It was a pretty eventful night. The mud and mosquitoes were the worst yet though. =/
My sister and our friend decided to investigate this story a month or so ago. We had a bit of trouble finding the bridge at first, and we followed a path for about 10 minutes in order to find it. It was about 5 or 6 in the afternoon and we were planning on going at midnight later but it's always a good idea to be familiar with the area you are investigating instead of going into the investigation blindly. The one thing that bothered us was the part about elias being hung from the bridge. Most of you have noted this as well, and I can't remember if we actually saw a stone bridge or not. It sounds familiar but I don't believe we did. We took pictures of the area on our visit and in one photo you can actually see a demonic face in the trees. We didn't notice this until we got home and put it on the computer. Also, on the way to the bridge, we were driving and making a video. Honest to God, we saw some sort of ghostly apparition run across the street in our video. this was right before we reached our destination. It sort of looked like part skeletal bird and part human. We ended up getting too scared for our own good and never ended up going back at midnight. Our friend who was with us told her dad about this and he said that he is related to the friskes and there is no "elias" anywhere in their families timeline. However, we still believe this is true. One other thing that bothered me though is how they named the street where hell's bridge is located "friske" why would they name a street after a man who murdered children? That street always creeped me out when I would drive past it, even before I knew the story. Anyway, just an experience story for everyone to enjoy, and some questions I would love to have answered :)
oh and I just wanted to leave a bit of advice as well. To the couple of you I read your comments about taunting the ghost or provoking the ghost or wanting to use a ouija board on Hell's bridge, i highly HIGHLY advise you to not do that or do it again. By provoking the ghost he will think you're up to no good and will be very angry at your disrespect. This will give you a higher chance of possession and you could get hurt. Ghost hunting is not a joke and should be taken very seriously. always thank the ghosts and say a prayer before you leave and when you arrive and always be respectful. after all, you ARE entering their territory uninvited. Possession is no laughing matter either. I am just asking for all of you to respect this and don't do anything to anger the ghosts. if you're going to ghost hunt, be serious about it. :) :) :)
This location is about 3 miles from my house. How far off of Algoma ave is it? Can you get to Friske off of Algoma at all? I cannot figure out exactly where this is. Also, how long is the walk to the bridge from the beginning of the trail?
i have always been interested in haunted places and when i heard about this bridge it was the one and only i didn't believe until i watched the videos and they scared me to death.
Going there this Saturday, curious on what I will see. I'll be there late at night.
Friske Road is located between 12 and 13 Mile. If you take Algoma to Rector, Rector will take you through to Friske. Turn right, and head straight until you see a dirt parking area. I'm going again on the 30th of October with a group. I just can't seem to stay away, ha ha.
Jen, a group of friends and I were also thinking about going that night too, so we'll make sure to make ourselves known its us so you don't think maybe we're friske and the kiddies!
Alright everyone, I've been there three times now and each had strange occurences.
First trip - Mid August of this year
There were four of us there, two of us with cameras. At first we did not really get any vibes from the place. Yes, it was a creepy footbridge barely held on at one end. However, I went across by myself and walked about the wooded area for a few minutes. I came back to the beginning of the bridge and (facing across the bridge) something very heavy was walking down that small trail to my right that runs along the riverbank. Nothing ... I walked towards it an nothing. We got some strange pictures, however. They are not mine ... and I am attempting to get ahold of them. Very strange lights. Many of them of oranges and blues ... and some snow whites. The strange thing, though, is that they were lines ... zig-zagging about people like animated lightning bolts. Also a strange green-hued mist was captured on the bridge.
Secnod visity - Four of us Late August
We decided to call Elias out ... calling him a coward and really trynig to provoke him. It did nothing until we decided to leave. Somethnig heavy it the ground to our right as we were staring across the bridge from the side we arrived on. Everything grew warm ... and lights began to play off across the bridge. I went across by myself, really challenging him. Two red lights (presumeably eyes) flashed about 10 yards ahead of me and I chased after it ... it was gone before I could even get a grasp on what it wuold have been. I went back across and we challenged him some more. This time my buddy decided to say some very nasty thnigs to Elias ... and mid-sentence he stopped and both our heads turned upstream as a little girl's voice told us that "he is not here."
Third visit - this last Sunday night
Very cold night. We got there and we could feel a heavy presence. The sound of hundreds of trees falling could be heard from one tree ... no leaves were falling. I saw a few things move ... but all in all it was an uneventful experience.
And just a note on possession, they must have your permission to possess you. You will not be possess unless you invite them. Taunting them will not allow them to possess you ... you must give them permission. Taunting them will, however, make you a likely target for poltergeist-like experiences ... physically so.
Me and a couple of friends went down tonight. It was great and spooky. When we first got back there we thought we heard laughing it was crazy. I was like what was that lol. Over all i think i was more scared thAt the bridge was goin to collapse then ghosts. ( the bridge is safe). Lol. And to get to it on 13 turn left or right on to friske go all the way down pass a road that starts with a d untill u get to a turn around on the left side. Pull in. And walk in about 200 feet. :) have fun
Haha Taylor, me and large group of friends went to hells bridge yesterday, same night as you. It was really rainy and annoying, my fur hood was nearly destroyed, the puddles were ruthless, but we didnt notice ANYTHING creepy at all. You can see lights from houses in the area. We heard no laughing, no footsteps, no nothing. I'd rather just have went to Ada Cemetery.
if you really want to bring a ouija board out somewhere like that, your stupid. bad things will happen, and you dont want to find that out the hard way
My girlfriend Vicky and I have become interested in Hell's Bridge this year. We visited a few times in the daylight to get familiar with the area. Took a few daytime pictures once and one of the shots has a neon blue arc of light or something about six or seven feet off the ground next to the big tree on west end of bridge.
On Aug 29, we went out at midnight with four friends. One of them has also said that she can feel if there are auras or spirits around, whether there is a good or an uneasiness in the area around her. She said that she could feel something south of the bridge where the creek flows into the Rouge River.
As you step off the east end of the bridge, there are paths going to the left and to the right. We went about 50 to 100 feet along the rightside path and came to a spot on the riverbank that was bare and had a large tree extending over the river, while the woods opened up more away from the river. Here is where our friend really started to feel that something bad had happened at some time here. She couldn't tell whether it happened to people or animals though. Also, I heard a single grunt coming from the woods which no one else in the group had heard. Our sensitive friend became very uneasy and went back to the bridge to join her boyfriend.
After about an hour we headed back to the parking area. We took pictures but the only thing we may have captured was two orange dots in the background of one shot.
When we got back to our vehicles, in the grass next to one of them was a dead deer which looked like it had been dropped straight down into place as there were not any drag marks in the grass around it. It's eyes were missing and it's tail end was torn apart with the skin missing all the way down the backs of it's upper backlegs. This seemed to be a fresh kill as the deer was still warm to the touch of it's ear and did not give off any odor. The deer was so close to the vehicle that if it had been there when we went out Vicky says she would have stepped on it then. We couldn't get a picture of it because we had used the film up on our camera.
A week later Vicky went out with three other friends. They did not see anything, but all members of the group felt uneasy and Ken later told me that he heard grunting sounds at one point that the others did not hear. When Vicky got home, she had a bruise on the back of her thigh with something above it that looked like scrapes or a rash. She says that she does not remember getting hit by anything or slipping anywhere to account for this bruise.
Does anyone know exactly where the Stone Bridge is at that others claim to have been too?
It is on the East side of US 131 on the Whitetail ... something Trail.
ive been to hells bridge probably 15 times over the past 3 years and have never experienced any activity. in the sparta/rockford area that bridge is very well known to the high school kids. alot of people go out there friday nights and full moons knowing others will be there looking for ghosts just to scare them. and as for the muddy vehicle early july that was probably me lol. before it became known to the kids in the area it very well could have been a place to search for the paranormal but now you need to be skeptical of everything because of ppl going out there just to pull pranks.
I recently visited the hells bridge I am 14 and I rode my bike their and while I was their I bring my metal detected wat I found was a old pair of handcuffs dated 18 sumthin and I found a silver necklace and I found a book can't read it out but it is a crazy person book it said stuff like we are here in sumthin for the spirits that rise and so on but when I walked the bridge their was kids screaming mommy help I want my mommy and like let me go so I ran wit my bat and seen spirits of kids in green old old clothes but when I screamed get away or I call my ppl to help they just stopped and stared into my eyes and I said WTF r u they said nothing I like stared for prob a half hour until the weirdest thing happened I was shoved by gravity but when I looked up I seen a real dark grey figure with red eyes just disapeer and after that u had to go cuZz my mom called me scared sayin where r u. And that is an awsome scary place at night
Tom u experianced a deer callin out for danger haha sum one or sumthing killed dat deer but nice expiriance
Well, I went 2 Hell's Bridge with my little couzins. I drove them there because they've always wanted 2 see it. I was'nt scared. I don't believe in ghosts... until now. Now let's start the story.
So, we got there at exactly 12:34 am. When we all got there nothin happened. We just sat around drinkin root beer. I didn't get it but we just got in my car and left. When we were driving back 2 my dorm my 10 year old cousin said 2 me, "Um, Jack... look at these pictures i took..." so i grabbed them and looked. The first one had 3 small kids sitting on the edge of the bridge. One had it's head turned 2 the camera and was waving at it. The next one there was a man's face right up close to the camera. I freaked out and started driving 2 my dorm again. Then my 10 year old cousin said, "wait, look at the last one!" I did. And i regret it. There were about 10 of these black dog-like creatures crawling around on the bridge. They were hairy and had red eyes and long tails. Please tell me what they are!!!
