Church services were once held atop Maiden's Cliff. Over 100 years ago the community held one of their church services with 12-year-old Elenora French among them.
The girl loved going to the services because it gave her an excuse to wear her favorite pink outfit, which included her treasured pink hat. However, it was an unusually windy day on May 7, 1864. Atop the cliff the wind's strength grew and blew Elenora's hat off. While the congregation was deep into prayer Elenora frantically chased her hat. Tragically, she did not see the edge of the cliff and fell into the rocky waters below.
Today, a large white cross marks the spot of Elenora's death. People have said that at night on the anniversary of her death you can see a pink hat floating in the water. There have also been reports that you can hear the girls screams, and if quiet enough you can hear the sound of prayers being spoken. Almost all people report unusual feelings when travelling the area.
