200 W. Kawili St., Hilo, Hawaii 96720-4091

There is a variety of activity that relates to the death of a young boy during the construction of the student dormitory.

There have been sightings of the boys apparition on the ground floor of the girls side. There have also been reports of students and faculty hearing the boy laughing, talking, walking and running down hallways, and the sound of a ball bouncing.

There is also reports of poltergeist activity unrelated to the boy. In an unoccupied area of the dorm the sound of someone in agony has been heard. Near this area in occupied rooms reports have stated that toliets flush themselves, furniture moves, water turns on and off, and the sound of heavy deliberate footsteps can be heard in hallways. Brave individuals who went to investigate found nothing but an empty hallway.

I used to live in Kanilehua dorms for 2 semesters back in 2000-2001. I was at first on the first floor, boys side in i think room 103, then later i was upstairs in 205 or something like that... with my windows facing the bigger dorms ( i think kauanoi? it has been several years... my memory fades).

I'm an atheist and non-religious person, so I'm usually a skeptic when it comes to supernatural things... but i did have an experience in my first floor dorm room 103, when I was chess pressed in the middle of the night. People say its the "night marchers" path that passes through the boys side of Kanilehua, plus the lounge. But who knows.

Kanilehua was some of the best times i've had in my young adult life, i couldn't have imagined living in any other dorm on the UH Hilo campus.

I work for Housing now and I've lived on the girls side of Kanilehua. I have heard a ball bouncing in the early morning and I have also heard snickering when I was in my friend's room.. There is a little spirit but he is harmless~ :)
